Description: I am an occupational therapist who has worked in both rehabilitation and stroke wards in a hospital. I wanted to create an artwork representing the journey of recovery. The artwork is a landscape photo I took of my backyard. I tried to capture intervention areas I focus on with my clients during the rehabilitation process. The finger-painted cloud represents gross motor movements and upper limb therapy. The scribbles and lines represent fine motor skills. The words in the tree represent speech and cognition. The picture as a whole represents the holistic approach occupational therapists take to ensure people reach their goals. My aim for this artwork was to portray hope, determination and strength through healing.
Medium: Acrylic as the base. I went over it was pastels and acrylic markers.
